Five Natural Canker Sore Treatments


You can reduce the pain of canker sore by finding suitable treatment. Depending upon the type and severity, canker sore treatment may vary. There are many home remedies which are used to treat these sores. Some of which are as follow:
  • Use of salt water solution and sodium bicarbonate is a very effective canker sore treatment. Swish the mixture of water and 1 teaspoon salt in your mouth for 30 seconds and then spit it out from mouth. In order to get relief from mouth sore's pain you can also apply baking soda and water paste. This will greatly reduce the pain and bacteria in the mouth.
  • Apply the hydrogen peroxide solution directly on the mouth sore. It is an antiseptic and will surely help you in reducing the mouth's bacteria.
  • Liquid suspension of magnesium hydroxide is called as milk of magnesia. Apply milk of magnesia on a sore at least 3 to 4 times a day. It is helpful in reducing the pain as well as shortening the healing time.
  • Mixture of one part of milk of magnesia and one part diphenhydramine can be used as mouth sore treatment. Swish the solution for about 1 min and then spit it out.
  • There are various dental care products and mouth washes available in the market which are helpful in reducing the pain of a sore. Oral care products such as gel, pastes, and washes help in providing relief from pain.
You will need to consult your dentist if you are suffering from a major mouth sore. For severe mouth sores, you will need to opt for prescription medication. Remember, canker sores usually heal on their own, but if it does not heal within 14 days then you will need to get in touch with your doctor and they will prescribe a canker sore treatment to you.
